Get ready for the change of the Digital Library on CANVAS!

Image
Biblio_OpenAthens_398x230_ING

Now you can enjoy an improved experience in Digital Library, with a unique and approved access!

Starting June 20, you can enjoy an improved experience in the Digital Library, with unique and approved access to more than 148 Digital Collections, as well as millions of articles in magazines, newspapers and research journals.  We will implement a new authentication through the OpenAthens platform, so that you identify yourself only once, instead of doing so for each Digital Collection.

Due to this technological change, access to the Library's electronic resources will change and you will need to update the URLs you have in CANVAS for all your coursesIf you require support to change the URLs of books, articles, videos and other digital resources that you declared on your course pages, please go to your campus Library.

Don't be surprised by the alert of “broken links”! Resources are still available in the Digital Library for you and your students.

Likewise, we are at your disposal on the Library portal, “Help / Contact” section https://biblioteca.tec.mx/inicio/contacto , where you can write us or make an appointment with a librarian.

If you have questions or need more information, we invite you to visit your local Library.

Enhancing Learning with Efective Breaks

Image
AprendizajePausas_398x230_ING

Discover the Power of Pauses in Teaching with Sintonía CEDDIE's Latest Episode.

In the most recent episode of Sintonía CEDDIE, Rafaela Diegoli, Academic Vice Dean of Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Pablo Andrés Torres, a faculty member from the School of Humanities and Education, delve deeply into a strategy that many of us as faculty members might not pay much attention to: the effective use of breaks. The discussion explores how these intentional pauses are an essential part of the teaching and learning process and how they can significantly enhance the educational experiences of our students.

According to our guests, breaks in the academic context are far more than simple interruptions; they are crucial intervals that allow the brain to process and absorb information. This episode touches on the potential benefits that pauses can bring to teaching methods and shares examples of their effective implementation.

For faculty, the key message is to recognize the optimal times to take a pause and how to schedule these interludes to reap the maximum benefits without disrupting the course's momentum. It highlights the need for discipline in taking the break and then refocusing when it's time to continue.

Breaks are also portrayed as acts of balance and commitment to personal care, catering to basic needs that we sometimes overlook, such as hydration. These moments of respite facilitate reconnection and ensure that the time dedicated to learning is more productive, free from distractions.

In addition to practical advice, the episode encourages starting with small steps by integrating brief breaks into classes and assessing their impact on the classroom experience, identifying the spaces where such pauses could be inserted for the benefit of your students.

Don't miss out on this enlightening conversation on Sintonía CEDDIE, designed to refine your teaching techniques and deepen student engagement.

Driving good practices on competencies evaluation in Tec Educational Model Assessment.

Join our call for sharing your educational assessment practices! The Directorate of Design and Evaluation in the Educational Model, in collaboration with the Center for Teaching Development and Educational Innovation (CEDDIE), cordially invites you to participate.  Our aim is to identify and recognize the best assessment practices that enrich the Tec Educational Model.

Simply send us your assessment practice before June 30, 2024. If your practice is selected, you will have the opportunity to share it on internal platforms of the Institution and possibly in a compilation of best practices with external reach.  For more details on how to participate and the evaluation criteria, please see the requirements and guidelines below:

  • Both full-time and adjunct faculty members are eligible to participate.
  • Practices can be individual or collaborative.
  • Practices aligned with the competency-based approach of the Tec Educational Model will be particularly valued.
  • An academic committee will evaluate practices based on criteria such as authenticity, relevance of evidence, and sufficiency of information for assessing competencies.
