"We evaluate to learn, we evaluate to promote development..." This is the phrase that detonates this talk in which we delve into the value of evaluation as an inseparable aspect of the teaching - learning process. The paradigm shifts to a comprehensive evaluation that includes performance, products and results as well as student participation in their evaluation managed through various assessment tools leads us to consider the evaluation process as something that is done with the student, contrary to the tradition of evaluating the student.
This is how leading the student to be an active learner, motivated to solve challenges that come from real situations results in a greater stimulus to take charge of their learning. This leads us to evaluate learning and student competencies based on real contexts and on the performance, attitudes and skills shown. Performance assessment is the type of evaluation used in the Competency-Based Educational Model. It is the evaluation of the actions and products performed by the student during the learning process, which allows feedback on their learning and validate the development of their competencies. This is how the Tec21 Model prepares students for a continuous, comprehensive and above all, responsible and reflective evaluation carried out together with the students throughout the learning process.

María José Pineda Garín
She holds a master’s in education, she has been working for 33 years in the area of secondary education, has participated in academic management projects, throughout which she has had different responsibilities, such as: director of Eugenio Garza Sada campus, director of Curriculum Development department, director of academic departments of Social Sciences and Integral Development, Director of International Program. She has participated and led in the design and development of curricula and programs, on several occasions; she has had the privilege of collaborating in roles of academic direction and teacher training and has continued to learn every day. She is confident in the power to transform our environment and never ceases to be amazed by the potential of our young people. She is passionate about education and especially the topic of education in competencies and social-emotional development. .
María José Vázquez de la Mora
She holds a degree in Communication Sciences from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master in Comparative Literature: literary and cultural studies from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Since 2014 she is director of the Communication and Digital Media Program. She was editorial coordinator of the reading promotion program for young people in the state of Querétaro Si lees se nota, as editor of hundreds of hypertext and multimedia articles online between 2010 and 2012.
She has been part of the Career Academic Aspects Team (EAAC) for the curricular design of the bachelor’s degree in Communication since 2017 and has led the design of several formative units such as Symbolic Structures in Literature, Image and Music, Theories of Communication and Scriptwriting and Production of Audiovisual Narratives.
Participated in the NOVUS project: Ubiquitous and Alternate Reality Games to Promote Cross-curricular Competencies and Motivate Learning 2018 - 2019, participating in the QS Reimagine Education competition as shortlisted with the paper Story and Play: Designing Alternate Reality Games to Promote Reading and Cross-curriculum Competencies in 2018 in San Francisco, California. Speaker at the Transmedia Literacy International Conference - Universitat Pompeu Fabra with the paper Digital storytelling: individual and collective procedures and discoveries (2018).
She received the Inspirational Teacher award at campus Querétaro in May 2019 and recognitions for the best evaluations as career director between 2015 and 2018. She actively participates in consulting projects in projects that include the development of competency-based challenges for children in K-12 education at a transversal level and teaches Storytelling + Visual Thinking courses of the Continuing Education area of Tecnológico de Monterrey.
