Did you know that one out of every two students in training has difficulties applying leadership theory to real-world scenarios? Now, this challenge isn't exclusive to leadership; it's actually related to the way we learn. According to an article on metacognitive strategies in student learning, most students rely on reviewing and rereading—methods with limited impact on knowledge retention and application. In fact, the key to effective learning lies in retrieval practice, which involves extracting information from memory rather than merely reintroducing it. This is precisely where Clase Viva makes a difference.

Hello, I'm Ramiro Guzmán, a professor at the School of Business on the Ciudad de México campus. This project involves a simulator powered by generative artificial intelligence to create what I call "evolutionary scenarios." Evolutionary scenarios are situations presented to students, enabling them, guided by the professor, to solve practical problems in class. Once the group reaches a conclusion, they input their decision into the scenario, and the AI provides two outcomes: first, immediate feedback, and second, the generation of a new scenario based on the previous decisions. This significantly helped our students enhance their learning and application, particularly in leadership within complex and realistic contexts.
What Clase Viva does is use immersive simulations with generative artificial intelligence to transform the classroom into a leadership laboratory inspired by retrieval practice. Instead of merely repeating information, students apply their leadership styles in realistic organizational cases, taking on the role of advisors to a CEO. Guided by their professor, they engage in discussions to determine the appropriate leadership actions. The AI strengthens this process by offering immediate feedback and generating new evolutionary scenarios based on their decisions, creating a continuous cycle of theoretical-practical learning. The results are clear: in fact, 50% of our students surpassed their initial performance, reaching a minimum score of 70. Additionally, the group's average performance increased by 8%, and score dispersion decreased by 22%, reflecting greater consistency in learning. Moreover, students developed essential skills such as decision-making under pressure, effective communication, and strategic thinking.
The greatest advantage of Clase Viva is its flexibility; it's not limited solely to leadership but allows us to create simulators adapted to any discipline, from business to medicine or engineering. Thanks to the power of generative artificial intelligence, educators can design personalized learning experiences that explain concepts and transform those concepts into interactive and dynamic situations, enabling our students to acquire key skills in any area of knowledge. So, if you'd like to learn more about this project, I invite you to get in touch.
